The iPhone 4 was announced at Apple?s WWDC yesterday, the rumour mill is now at rest. The new version of the platform has been named iOS 4. There will also be over 100 new features as part of their development SDK, including multitasking, folders, a unified inbox, and deeper enterprise support.
iOS4 has added Bing as an alternative search engine option, Google is still the default. iBooks has been made available, users will also be able to access the content that they purchased for the iPad.
iChat has been revealed as FaceTime, and was introduced as Steve Jobs? “one more thing.” The new feature gives real-time video chat between two iPhone 4 devices. MCarriers are not yet ready for the extra traffic, so for now it will only be usable on Wi-Fi, but there are plans to make it an open industry standard.
AT&T will make the iPhone 4 available on June the 24th in the US, the 16GB iPhone 4 will cost $199, the 32GB ?299. And that?s under a two year contract. Pre-orders start on th 15th of June, the phone will initially launch in US, France, Germany, UK, and Japan. iOS 4 will be available as a free update for iPod Touch (2nd gen and above) and iPhone 3G and 3GS users on June 21st.
