Dev-Team have released an iPad jailbreak already, no messing. They kept their promise to release a jailbreak soon after the release of the iPad 3G. details have been posted on their blog of the Spirit release , and it?s an untethered ?userland? jailbreak. It takes advantage of a weakness in the firmware, and is applied after the OS kernel is already running. This means that Apple is likely to patch the weakness quick smart.

Spirit will apparently work with all Apple devices. The dev-Team have confirmed that it will work for the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, and both iPad versions. As always, we don?t condone jailbreaking and you?ll always run the risk of voiding you warranty  and wrecking your device.

It was announced by Apple on Monday that it?s sold 1 Million iPads in just under 1 month.

Early estimates predicted that Apple would sell around 4 Million iPads by the end of the year. Steve Jobs was certainly sunny about the 1Mil mark, saying: "One million iPads in 28 days?that?s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," Jobs? has also said that demand is exceeding supply and that Apple is working hard to "get this magical product into the hands of even more customers."

Steady on Jobs, magical is a bit much?

Over 12 million Apps and 1.5 million eBooks have been have been downloaded for the magical iPads. The 3G version was launched on the 30th of April in the U.S. and is estimated to have shipped 300,000 devices in the first couple of days of sales. The iPad international launch was delayed due to supply issue, but will drop later this month.

It?s been reported that the company developing the camera lens for Apple?s iPhone 4G/HD may support a 5MP camera.

The notorious ?lost? iPhone that was dismantled to examine internal hardware, but the resolution and camera couldn?t be determined. Due to the fact that it wasn?t in a functional state prior to being taken apart. But, LG Innotek are mass producing the 5MP camera hardware for the next gen iPhone. The 3G and 3GS iPhones have a 2MP and 3MP camera.

The iPhone 4G/HD will also support and LED flash, a feature earlier version were missing. There?s been no confirmation that the camera will include a zoom, this will probably be done on a software level anyway. The rumour is that Apple will reveal all about the device, and the iPhone OS 4.0 at the next WWDC held from June 7th-11th.

It?s been less that a week since Apple opened up Mac OS X APIs to allow developer to access low level hardware in order to accelerate their software. Adobe announced that it accelerate Flash, and low low and behold We now ?Gala? Flash. Just 6 days later.

Support GPUs include the NVIDIA GeForce 320M or GeForce GT 330M and the GeForce 9400M. This means all unibody MacBook pros that have discrete graphics are covered. iMacs however, are a bit of a different story due to the mix of ATI and NVIDIA GPUs used. This means that some users, even with relatively new machines won?t get the benefit of this hardware acceleration, but support will surely expand to other GPUs.

Adobe have also said that this support will come as standard with the release of Flash 10.1. Adobe said in a post: ?The preview release of Flash Player Gala is based on Flash Player 10.1, which will ship the first half of this year and is now available as a release candidate.?

Adobe and Apple haven?t been the best of friends recently, so this can only be a good thing.

Apple released ne MacBook pros earlier this month. The new models came with Intel?s latest processors. PC Authority did some testing with the new 17? model and found that it Core i7 processor reached a temperature of 100 ?C.

The testers found the machine was kicking out so much heat that they had to stand the macBook on its side in order to carry on testing. testing with both Mac and Windows OSs reached heat levels of 100 ?C.

the processor reached 86 ?C when testing Dwarf fortress graphics and 100 ?C when testing Cinebench 3D rendering. A Fujitsu Lifebook with a 2.66 GHz Core i7 620M was also tested. It reached a maximum heat of 80 ?C and remained cool to the touch. This is probably due to it?s thicker plastic casing giving greater air flow and the fact that is uses a larger copper heat sink.

However, testing of real world usage found that the new models were actually cooler than the old ones. PC Authority?s testing was going for benchmarks. So those of you that have one\want one shouldn?t worry too much. But recommendations have been made to Apple regarding sacrificing its low noise output in order to minimise heat output.

Apple have Made a deal with mobile chip maker Intrinsity to buy them out fro $121 million.

Intrinsity, based in Austin Texas, specializes in making high performance low power output chips for mobile devices. The company had a previous partnership with Samsung making processors for their devices. Rumours of the buy out by Apple started when Intrinsity workers started listing their employer as Apple Inc on the LinkedIn networking site.

It?s not yet known whether Intrinsity had anything to do with the design of Apples A$ SoC chip for the iPad. But it seems more likely that P.A Semi had more to do with it, they were bought by Apple back in 2008 for $278 Million.

Apple are as ever tight lipped on the matter, spokesperson Steve Dowling said:  ?Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we do not comment on our purpose or plans.?

It?s all happening at the moment when it comes to Apple and their ?prototypes?. Reports are now out that two iPod Touch Prototypes have been listed on eBay and since removed. This fact as well as some of the features of the device have lead many to believe that they?re not fakes.

Both devices had video cameras and were running what seemed to be a prototype version of the iPhone OS that?s used for dev. The devices were branded DVT-1 and DVT-2 with Apple development team stickers on them. The tech community have been aware for some time of Apple?s plans to include a camera on the next gen iPod Touch since it?s no show on the last release. It is possible that these are last years prototypes, but it seems unlikely that they would show up now.

It makes you wonder what on earth is going on at Apple. I can see their developers being so poorly paid that they have to hawk their prototypes on eBay, or accidently ?loose? them. Very strange indeed!

The editor of Gizmodo.com, Jason Chen was visited by California?s Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team on Friday night. According to Gizmodo. A warrant was issued by the Judge of the Superior Court of San Mateo. Officers seized four PCs and two servers during the raid. Chen?s defence, Gawker Media LLC, are claiming that the seizures were illegal according to California law.

The warrant was to search for material related to the ?lost? iPhone HD prototype. And clearly states that anything thought to relate to the device would be seized for forensic analysis.

Gaby Darbyshire, Gawker Media’s COO, claims the raid was illegal on the following grounds:

  • Chen was a journalist.
  • He worked out of his home.
  • Section 1524(g) of the CA penal code clearly states that a journalist cannot be subpoenaed for refusal to reveal a source.
  • Section 1070 of said code clearly states that a warrant cannot be issued for seizure of any objects described in section 1524(g)
  • An ‘X’ mark by "Night Search Approved" would disallow any seizure during the evening hours. The search commenced at 9:45 PM.
  • Chen has said that the officers had already entered his house before he got home that evening. They asked him not to enter the house while the search was being conducted, but informed him that he wasn?t under arrest. The search lasted for about 30 minutes, after which they informed him that he could claim compensation for the damage done to the door but that they had photo evidence that no other damage had been done.

    The plot thickens.

The incident of the ?lost iPhone will have been the first major leak from Apple in a long time. If indeed that is the case. There has been allot of speculation about how exactly the phone made it?s way into Gizmodo?s hands. Considering there was supposedly a large amount of money involved, it entirely possible that the whole thing wasn?t exactly legal.

CNET has reported that Apple have been speaking with local police, and that action id being taken by a "computer crime task force." Gizmodo haven?t yet stated exactly how they came by the phone. Instead opting just to give information on the engineer who lost the phone. The whole thing has been finely picked over by the tech community, but Gizmodo staff have kept quiet.

It seems perfectly reasonable for Apple to want to file charges, Gizmodo had the Iphone for over a week before posting a blog about it. They could have contacted Apple and had it sent back to them long before then. Californian law is in Apple?s favour. This isn?t just a lost phone but a valuable prototype that?s found it way into the hands of the press months before the release of the final product. If I were Steve Jobs I don?t think I?d be best pleased, and if i were Gizmodo I don?t think I?d be too happy about a possible legal battle with Apple. Watch this space.

A survey that was originally said to have been conducted by Phones 4U, wasn?t. It was apparently issued in error under the TechCrunch name by a PR firm via a third party. Here?s what Phone 4U have said about the survey:

"StickyEyes conducted research via a third party, again without prior consent from Phones 4u and issued a press release detailing its findings without Phones 4u?s knowledge.

To confirm, Phones 4u had no knowledge of any said survey, nor did Phones 4u consent to or approve of the press release StickyEyes issued to PR Newswire and the information provided within the said release is factually incorrect."

And here?s why they said this?

The survey was taken in regard to how attractive women find men who posses an iPhone. 1,500 women apparently took part in the survey, and their responses will astound!

Apparently: "54% of women stated that they would be more likely to date a man if he owns an iPhone. One respondent suggested ‘if he has an iPhone then he’s obviously intelligent and well-off.’?

Not only that, 37% of women according to this survey, said that men with iPhones seem more reliable and worth a second date. One woman was quoted as saying:

"If he’s got the cash for an iPhone then he must be very good at his job, too."

Indeed. So there you have it, if you?ve been wondering where you?ve been going wrong with women you now have the key. Get you?re self an iPhone! But don?t be surprised if she ditches you for another man who has an iPhone HD. Women are fickle like that?
